Amanda Smithfield is the school librarian at Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School, where she sponsors the high school Democrats and Republicans. She is a 2016 Library Journal Mover and Shaker. She started ProjectCiv, a monthly discussion about politics, to provide a space for students to come together, read different opinions, and share their own thoughts. Amanda frequently speaks to other librarians about the importance of integrating civics and character education into our school library spaces.
